The figures are mostly taken from the annual survey on the Russian software development industry that has been jointly produced by the RUSSOFT Association with the portal Outsourcing-Russia.com by support of Information & Computer Technologies Industry Association (APKIT).

As a result of the RUSSOFT and Outsourcing-Russia.com joint project trustworthy information from total software export (both - of outsourcing services and products) market players was obtained. In 2003 reasonable data on the volume of software export was obtained for the first time at came to $546 million, slightly higher than the estimates of the Ministry of Communications.

So what comes next? Monitoring of the market this year makes it possible to estimate that growth in 2004 have reached $750mln. For the next year the respondents forecast even higher growth rate (50%). The research results show the continuation of growth of export revolutions. First of all the product export market, which underwent serious changes in the last few years when it had large masses of developers selling their products through the Internet, is separately examined.

Growing considerably the export revolution is the center of development for off-shore companies, which lowers the amount of government scientific research centers. The wages for developers has risen; the picture of the distribution of companies throughout the region strengthens the role of Saint Petersburg.

A majority of company directors optimistically evaluate the future of the development market, predicting the strength of consolidating and coarsening the process, which already sufficiently clearly began to appear according to the results of the conducted research.
